Dr Ward is literally one of my real life heroes! He was our family dentist when my late husband and I were raising our 2 young boys (in their 30s now).   When I was 24 years old (1987), I had a 3 year old and a 7 month old infant at home when I was unfortunately struck as a pedestrian by a drunk driver 2 blocks from the original Oregonian Building on my afternoon break. I was very seriously injured physically including extreme dental trauma (I was hit by a car traveling 35 MPH, went over the hood and roof and landed face first 10-15 feet behind the car). I went on to spend over a week in the trauma unit at OHSU (my poor husband!!) and several months of recovery.    When Dr Ward heard the news of my accident, he arranged to come to the hospital to do the dental exam and treatment plan. I cannot tell you how much that comforted me and how much it meant in that moment. I was not only terrified and horribly injured, but at 24 years, also old faced the possibility of disfiguring injuries.   The day I was released from the hospital, Dr Ward arranged for afterhours staffing and accommodations (wheelchair, pillows, many comfort measures) at his office so that I could come straight from the hospital and he could begin repairing the dental damage I had sustained. The exceptional work that he did for me following that accident is still holding today, 33.5 years later.  I have had multiple other dental professionals exclaim over the superiority of his work throughout the years. You’d never know if I didn’t tell you that my front teeth aren’t real    So many wonderful memories of this exceptional man, who also has the dubious distinction of being the first African American to graduate from OHSU School of Dentistry. He is the real deal and I am sooooo glad that you found him as a client and hope that OMG can bring it’s A-game to help this incredible human being and professional with his business.
